Asian BBQ Inspired Chicken Wings

These chicken wings are a delicious Asian inspired recipe and are also a great LOW FODMAP option.


These chicken wings are perfectly marinated with a combination of common Asian flavours that are basted twice, resembling a delicious sticky BBQ marinade. It is the perfect recipe for BBQ cookouts, parties, gatherings and more! Keep it simple and serve with a crunchy side salad.


If you wish to double the recipe, simply go ahead and double all the ingredients. Top with some sesame seeds and coriander for that extra flavour!

Asian BBQ Inspired Chicken Wings (FODMAP Friendly)

Serves: 3-4 Prep Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 40 mins Total Time: 60 mins


Ingredients:

700g or 12 chicken wing nibbles

Pinch of pepper

1 tbsp garlic and onion infused olive oil

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tbsp rice wine vinegar

2 tbsp brown sugar

2 tbsp gluten free soy sauce (I used Ayam)

50g tomato paste

1 tbsp gluten free oyster sauce (I used Ayam)

¼ tsp ground cinnamon

¼ tsp ground allspice


Topping:

1 tbsp sesame seeds

Handful of fresh coriander, roughly chopped



Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180° C (fan forced) and line a rectangle baking tray with baking paper.

  2. In a large bowl, add the chicken wings, season with pepper and set aside.

  3. In a small bowl whisk together the garlic and onion infused olive oil, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, tomato paste, oyster sauce, cinnamon and allspice. Pour the marinade over the chicken and combine with a spatula, allow the chicken to sit for 15 minutes.

  4. After 15 minutes, place each chicken winget onto the lined baking tray and reserve the leftover marinade for basting. Place the chicken into the oven for 40 minutes or until cooked through.

  5. At the 20 minute mark, pull out the chicken from the oven, turn the chicken and baste with the remaining marinade. Place the chicken back into the oven for another 20 minutes.

  6. Once the chicken is cooked through, top with sesame seeds and coriander.

  7. Serve with a crunchy side salad and enjoy!


Store these wings in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
